Recently a divorced friend told me that she feels marriages should either be illegal or have an expiry date of lets say, five years. After all, it seems that relationships these days naturally expire anyways. You know, like lumpy sour milk. It seems like everyone is searching for what someone else has and what is happening is we are all essentially just trading partners.
Marriage may not be easy but dating sure as hell isn't either. The effort and time people put into finding "the one" or getting the other person to commit or change to their standards is quite frankly exhausting.
I find it strange that I, the longtime cynic of all cynics is offering advice such as: don't give up, have faith, believe in love.
Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs. What's wrong with that?

So true....my dh and I just celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary in March. Think of it like this...
When two people are under the influence of the most violent, most insane, most delusive, and most transient of passions, they are required to swear that they will remain in that excited, abnormal, and exhausting condition continuously until death do them part. ~G.B. Shaw, Getting Married, 1908
