Wendy Alana Photography

Something inside of me one lunch break at the office, screamed to leave. I remember my husband asking me: "What do you mean you quit? We just bought our house." My boss came to my home the next day, took a look around and quipped that I was far too creative to be working in an office job. She said that if she were me, she would start her own business out of this home. I almost begged for my job back at that very moment. Almost.

I was so nervous at the thought of the uncertainty of the future. It really sunk in when people started telling me how brave I was.  More like stupid for not having a plan. We had just bought our first camera and I was wandering around the  neighbourhood snapping photos of flowers, animals, street signs, pets and basically everyone that would let me take their photo. I joined forums. I took courses. I sought out mentors and peers. I upgraded equipment. I pulled my hair out. Once it grew back, I pulled it out several more times. I cried out of frustration. I rejoiced when I finally understood something. I began to build my business. I bought some software editing programs. I built a website. I flew to Punta Cana to assist shooting my first wedding. I have an entire wall of printed images that make my heart soar.

So...after a gruelling, exciting, whirlwind nine months, I'm officially available to photograph your life events. For those looking for engagement, bridal/baby shower, wedding, (destination or local) trash the dress, boudoir, family, newborn, pet or fashion portraits sessions, please check out my updated website for samples of photos. Fine art prints of sacred and ornate can also be purchased. Please contact me for pricing. Gift certificates are also available.

Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way and as always, I continue to learn more about this craft and enjoy every step of the beautiful process of capturing life's moments and holding them still.
